IMPORTANT INFORMATION:

These pictures and specifications are indicative of the vehicle that will be supplied under your booking. Actual vehicles may vary according to year of manufacture and availability, but your vehicle will be suitable for the required number of people and have similar specifications to those on this website. Vehicles cannot be requested by make, model, year of manufacture, features or specifications.

For details on Rental Conditions and the Rental Agreement, please refer to our Terms and Conditions page.

Locations and Road Restrictions:

Driving on beaches is not permitted. There are also selected roads and areas around Australia that are either not permitted, or you required permission from Britz to drive on. See our full list on pages 8 and 9 of this document

There is a Special Advice form available at the branch that all 4WD customers must read and sign upon pick-up, in addition to the Rental Agreement. If you’d like to read it ahead of time you can find it here.

The Maverick 4WD is available to and from Adelaide, Alice Springs, Brisbane, Broome, Cairns, Darwin and Perth.

If you'd like to learn more about driving a Britz 4WD, check out this page for more information.

4WD Safety Gear:

  • EPIRB (Emergency Personal Indicator Radio Beacon) or PLB (Personal Locator Beacon)

  • Outback Safety Kit featuring:

  • Air compressor

  • Shovel

  • Recovery Boards or Snatch Strap with D-Shackles

Driver’s Licence:

A current and full motor vehicle driver’s licence is required and must be produced upon vehicle collection.

If your license is in a language other than English, it must be accompanied by a current international driving permit issued in the same country as the driver’s licence. An accredited English translation will be accepted in lieu of an international driving permit. This must be sighted along with your licence in the branch at pick-up, before we can release the vehicle.

Child Restraints:

Child or booster seats cannot be fitted in this camper.

This camper cannot accommodate children seven years and under, nor children who are over seven years and still in a child restraint.

For more information on Child Restraints please read our guideline below:

Essential Items included with every campervan:

All our campervans are fully equipped with everything you need to make life easy on the road. Click here for a full list of what’s included in your camper.

Solar Panels:

Solar power panels provide a trickle charge to the 12V battery power supply only, much like the engine battery does when driving. The solar panels will not charge over and above the current draw on the battery, nor will they fully charge it. To fully charge your house battery we recommend plugging into 240V power every two days.

Linen Exchange:

This service is included in the Value Pack. It allows guests to exchange their linen (pillow, pillowcase, duvet (doona), sheets and towels) over for a fresh, clean set during the rental after seven days of travel. The branch will need to be notified ahead of time to ensure the items are available and ready for collection.

Bring your pet:

Well-behaved dogs or cats are welcome to come along for the trip. A fee per hire applies. This is to cover additional cleaning processes that we undertake. For more information on bringing a pet please see our guidance here.

Helpful Tips for the Maverick 4WD:

  • We recommend you plug into 240 volt power on your first night and then every two or so days for the house battery to fully charge. The speed of the 12 volt battery drainage will depend on the climate and how often it is used. A full charge takes between 14 to 16 hours and needs to be done at a campground every two or so days.

  • Top-up the fresh water every one to two days.

  • Slightly open the roof windows at night to minimise condensation

  • Do not step on the roof, canopy or bonnet of the vehicle. Always use the step provided to access the awning

  • Always double check to ensure you have stored away the awning and pop-top roof securely before travel

  • Lastly, always remember, have your keys with you when you are outside the camper
