  • From Christchurch: Follow State Highway 1 north to Waipara, then take State Highway 7 west to Hanmer Springs.  

  • Drive time: 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on stops. 

  • Road conditions: Sealed, well-kept roads with gentle hills and mountain views, a great little road trip in itself.

The best place to park your campervan is the large public car park on Jacks Pass Road, just behind the Hanmer Springs Thermal Pools complex. It’s a short 2–3 minute walk to the pools’ entrance at 42 Amuri Avenue. This parking area is free to use, campervan-friendly, and offers easy access to the pools and village centre.
