1. Byron Holiday Park - New South Wales

If you are dreaming of a northern New South Wales getaway filled with beachside adventures, unbeatable food and lush rainforests, look no further than Byron Holiday Park. This coastal oasis is located 2.5 hours drive from the Britz Brisbane branch on the outskirts of Byron. Within a short drive, you can enjoy the panoramic lighthouse walk, join in on a surf lesson, dine at the world-class eateries in town and take your dog for a walk along Tallow Beach. 

Then, when you’re done, retreat to the holiday park to enjoy the on-site pool, grab a bite at the cafe and get up close with local wallabies, echidnas, koalas and more roaming the park.

2. BIG4 Gold Coast Holiday Park - Queensland

Nestled in the relaxed suburb of Helensvale, BIG4 Gold Coast Holiday Park is the perfect base for legendary Gold Coast beach days and theme park adventures. This holiday park also features an on-site water park, games room, pool, and spa, as well as a big off-lead area and kennel add-ons. Just a short 1.5-hour drive from Britz campervan hire in Brisbane, this is a perfect base for a weekend getaway.

3. Wollondilly River Station - New South Wales

Enjoy a tranquil escape into the Australian bush at Wollondilly River Station. This riverside homestead is around 2.5 hours drive from the Britz Sydney branch and is pet-friendly bush camping at its finest. Located in the southern highlands of New South Wales, this is the perfect place to get into nature with a bushwalk, mountain bike, swim and canoe on the Wollondilly River.  All of this with your pet by your side.

4. Wee Jasper Reserves - New South Wales

Wee Jasper Reserves is the ultimate city getaway, located 3.5 hours southwest of the Britz Sydney branch. Set up camp at one of the four wild camping reserves nestled amongst the creeks and classic New South Wales bushland. 

Then grab your hiking boots and spend your days exploring this bushwalkers paradise with your pets in tow.

5. NRMA Treasure Island Holiday Resort - Queensland

NRMA Treasure Island Holiday Resort is another top contender for pet-friendly camping and cabins on the Gold Coast, only a short 1.5-hour drive from Britz campervan hire in Brisbane. With an outdoor gym, spas, a bouncing pillow, kids club, pirate-themed mini golf course and a bistro, this holiday park is bound to be a hit with the whole family.

6. Bright Holiday Park - Victoria

Bright Holiday Park is perfect for all seasons. Located in the heart of Bright, just three hours from the Melbourne Britz branch, this is a caravan park that makes you feel like you’re part of the community. Whether you are here for the winter to ski at the local mountains or in the summer to ride bikes, this is the perfect pet-friendly base to experience it all. 

Top tip: Be sure to take your dog up to Dinner Plains for a dog-friendly area to explore the mountain.

7. Best Friend Holiday Retreat - Victoria

Best Friend Holiday Retreat offers a truly unique pet-friendly holiday experience. This spot features securely fenced cabins, a hydrobath hut for dogs, six (yes, six!) fenced off-leash areas, as well as over 10 acres of rainforest and beach to explore. Best Friend Holiday Retreat is the ultimate getaway for you and your pups. Just two hours from the Melbourne Britz branch, you can enjoy both city delights and hinterland beauty at this doggy paradise. 

Pet restrictions: Dogs must be on a lead, and it is asked that aggressive dogs stay home for the safety of all

8. Manbulloo Homestead - Northern Territory

If you are heading to the Northern Territory and looking for a rural retreat, add Manbulloo Homestead to your itinerary. The homestead is located just 3.5 hours from the Darwin Britz branch and is within driving distance to Mataranka thermal pools, Edith Falls and Nitmiluk National Park. Plus, with lockable verandas to confine pets, you can know your pets are safe while enjoying this hidden gem of the Northern Territory.

9. Monkey Mia Dolphin Resort - Western Australia

Monkey Mia Dolphin Resort is located in the Shark Bay World Heritage Area, around eight hours from the Perth Britz branch. With some of Western Australia’s most stunning nature right at your door, you can spend the day ticking off bucket list experiences. Then, end the day by taking advantage of the beachfront access with an evening walk with your pet. 

Pet restrictions: Pets are welcome on powered sites (but must not be left unattended)

10. Tathra Beach Side - New South Wales

Tathra Beach Side is tucked away in the tranquil wilderness of the Sapphire Coast, six hours from the Britz Sydney branch. This holiday park features pet villas, pet cottages and dog-friendly sites and is an ideal getaway for enjoying local surfing, walking, fishing, mountain biking and more. If that wasn’t enough, the park itself is home to a waterpark, heated swimming pool, and fire pit - perfect for evening marshmallow roasting and pet cuddles.

11. Brownhill Creek Tourist Park - South Australia

Just thirty minutes from the Britz campervan hire in Adelaide, you can kick back and relax at Brownhill Creek Tourist Park. Set on over 25 acres of tranquil rolling hills, this is the perfect hinterland retreat to explore the Adelaide region. Swim in the lagoon-style swimming pool, explore the local hiking/mountain biking trails or venture a little further to enjoy a wine tasting. The famous Clare Valley and Barossa Valley wine regions are incredible.

12. Rivershore Resort – Sunshine Coast, Queensland

If you are looking to explore the beauty and sandy oasis of the Sunshine Coast, be sure to book a stay at Rivershore Resort. After a 1.5-hour drive from the Britz Brisbane branch, you can grab a bite at the on-site restaurant. Then, explore the surrounding 30 beaches of this iconic coastline or rent a paddleboard from reception and explore the adjoining Maroochy River. The possibilities are endless.

Top tips for campervan holidays with your dog or cat

When travelling with your dog or cat, you’ll need to consider a few extra things to make sure your trip goes smoothly, including:

  • Make sure vaccination certificates are up to date (some holiday parks may require proof)
  • Check they are registered/microchipped and have a name tag on their collar
  • Bring your pet's favourite toys and bed
  • Buy a collapsible food bowl and water bottle so that you can keep your pet full and hydrated on long walks
  • Bring pet towels to clean grubby paws before entering the camper
  • Bring a pet first aid kit in case of any minor injuries
  • Be respectful of other campers and keep your pet on a leash when at your camper, and sleep your pet inside your campervan
  • Pets are not welcome in many national parks and reserves throughout Australia, so be sure to check pet friendly locations before booking
  • Do a little research on pet-friendly travel options, including things like dining, activities and pet minding at your destination
